The Default Resilient Method

About

I built this practice because no one could show me what my own body was doing.

Lucie Schnitzer, founder of The Default Resilient Method

MSc Applied Neuroscience. Research-grade biofeedback stack. Real-time training in self-regulation.

I help people understand how their nervous system responds to everyday stress, whether there is a gap in recovery, and build the regulation skills the body can come back to under load.

01The story

The practice started with a question no one could answer. I could feel the pattern. I could describe the pattern. I could not find an instrument that would read it back to me with anything sharper than a good guess.

I came to the question honestly. I am dysregulated myself. That is my qualification, and the reason I went looking for the instrument in the first place.

An engineering degree and years in tech taught me how to read complex systems. The system changed, from industrial processes to the human body, from community data to physiological data, and the work is the same: finding patterns that are not obvious, building something that actually works. An MSc in Applied Neuroscience at King's College London and training in biofeedback took me from reading about the nervous system to measuring it, live, in real people, session after session.

I found biofeedback because my body kept responding in ways that did not serve my goals, and I wanted to know why.

The method came out of a three-month research study I ran on HEG neurofeedback paired with movement therapy. The participants were recreational athletes who came to optimize performance. By the end of the study, each of them reported the practice had carried into parts of life they had not asked it to. That is when I saw the shape of the work:

The skill is portable, and it compounds when it sits alongside the therapies and practices a person is already doing.

The Default Resilient Method is what happens when you put research-grade tools in a wellness context and train the nervous system as a skill the body can learn through repeated training. Read. Score. Train. The three verbs are the method.

02Why the method

A nervous system learns its defaults the same way a body learns posture. Under repetition, under load, under pressure that no one named.

Most of what health and wellness operators sell clients is output-level work: a massage, a fitness plan, a nutrition protocol. Good downstream work. The input under all of it is a nervous system state no one has read.

The method exists because I got tired of the reset. I wanted a default that held when the week got hard. I wanted a number I could move. I wanted a practice I could come back to. I wanted all of the healthy inputs to build on a strong foundation: a resilient default.

04Modalities I train

01

HRV biofeedback

Heart rate variability. The primary read on autonomic flexibility.

02

HEG neurofeedback

Prefrontal cortex blood flow. Trained to support attention and regulation.

03

sEMG biofeedback

Muscle tension read at the source, where it lives.

04

Skin Conductance biofeedback

Arousal and activation, measured continuously through the session.

05

Peripheral Temperature biofeedback

Stress versus recovery state, read at the hands and periphery.

06

Respiratory biofeedback

Breathing mechanics. Rate, depth, rhythm. Trained to pattern.

05How I work

01

Systems thinking

The body is six biomarkers read together. One signal, six channels.

02

Pattern recognition

A reading without a history is a photograph. The method builds the history.

03

Precision over guesswork

Every session is scored. Progression follows the data.

Start with the assessment. The rest follows.
